Hand/Thumb Pain
My name is Steve and I’ve been seeing Barry for about two months for severe pain in my right hand and thumb. As for my treatments, they’ve helped me relax and to learn to breath and to take my mind off of the pain. As time goes on I hope that with help from Barry and myself that my pain will at least be somewhat tolerable. I would highly recommend working with Barry and Amy as they’ve helped me in my present situation and also helped me to learn about myself.

Vertigo
A friend recommended I see Amy Wheeler for Acupuncture treatments after I had chronic Vertigo from Meniere's disease. I was so sick of being unwell & anxious as to when my next Vertigo attack would happen that I was open to this ancient treatment. I felt hopeful as Amy carefully listened to all I was feeling and put me instantly at ease with her calm demeanor. The treatments helped me immensely. They gave me energy, and my Vertigo attacks gradually subsided. Not only that, but the treatments bring me an inner balance and a peace I can't quite explain. I just know that I always feel better when I leave. Acupuncture has become something I do for myself so I can stay well and balanced in this crazy, stressful world we live in.

Preventative Healthcare
My experience with the Acupuncture Works is that the whole person is treated. Barry is an intelligent and responsive listener, which inevitably means intelligent and responsive treatments. I'm almost always immediately impressed by the results of a session.
There is a consistent effort to educate and empower -- encouraging intimacy and care towards one's own body as well as the mind that drives it.
My time with the Acupuncture Works has helped me understand better how my body works and why it sometimes doesn't. This understanding is something I wanted for myself and the Acupuncture Works has been an important support in this journey.

Headaches
I first went to Amy for treatment for chronic headaches. The treatment was very effective in helping me get my headaches under control. Continuing to go for treatment on a monthly basis has helped me maintain a sense of balance and wholeness, in the midst of the ups and downs of my busy life. Amy takes the time to listen very carefully, to be a sounding board for me. The result is that I can hear more clearly what my body and spirit are telling me, and be empowered in my own personal growth and self-care. I am always intrigued by the connections in Chinese medicine between the physical and the spiritual; for me Acupuncture is most definitely a holistic healing experience.

Ankle Sprain
I have been receiving Acupuncture treatment for two years from Amy and Barry. I initially sought treatment for pain from a sprained ankle that did not go away after adequate rest, doctor visits, and physical therapy. I was astonished to find the pain had completely disappeared after two visits. However, I continued to receive Acupuncture because in addition to the absence of pain in my ankle, I noticed in those first two treatments other improvements in my wellness I had not expected: more clarity in my thinking, more energy during the day, and improved sleep. Over time, I began to notice that my regular Acupuncture treatments were having a cumulative effect, and that is when I noticed my food tasted better, and that overall my perceptions were clearer.
I had not expected to become a regular client for Acupuncture but found that it has helped in many different ways—many unexpected, and including symptoms or problems I had not thought to report.
Two years later I have a different way of thinking of Acupuncture—while I originally went to heal an ailment, I now consider it part of my wellness routine, just as I do regular exercise. I have found consistently that getting regular treatment helps me feel my best and supports my other efforts to stay well and healthy, in mind and in body.

Muscle/Tendon Tightness
I tried Acupuncture with Amy and Barry after first seeking help from a physical trainer and a massage therapist for a persistent problem. I'm a runner and there was a tightness in my right leg that literally kept me from hitting my stride. I rested, I stretched, tried everything. Amy and Barry listened to me and listened to my body and honed in on the fact that I was woefully out of balance. After several weekly sessions, not only did my leg right itself, but my back and shoulders and my very mental outlook came back into balance. I now visit Amy and Barry every two to three weeks for treatments that address periodic issues that can range from a stiff neck to an inability to focus well on my work. The Acupuncture Works is a great name, because Acupuncture really has worked for me.

Digestive Issues/Anxiety
When I began Acupuncture treatment with Amy, I had numerous health issues that were causing me a lot of stress. I had digestive problems (GERD, diverticulitis), asthma, headaches, neck and shoulder pain, anxiety attacks and a general inability to deal with the care of an aging parent. Since working with Amy, my digestive problems have all but disappeared and I have become more aware of foods that give me digestive problems. My neck and shoulder problems have greatly improved and I have learned a lot about dealing with the daily stress of a depressed, ill, elderly parent. My panic attacks are few and far between. We continue to work on my headaches, allergies and asthma, but I have a feeling of control and awareness that I was missing before. I thank you for all of your help and insights.

Insomnia/Hypertension
About a year ago, I became very frustrated dealing with several health issues. I saw an ad in the Bridge Weekly about Acupuncture and I called. Since then Amy has helped me with insomnia, panic attacks and hypertension. We are still trying to decrease my medications. I think that she has helped me the most with my mind set. She has provided me with the skill to have my mind be in charge. This has helped me find a happier place to sleep with fewer panic attacks and to lower my blood pressure.

Awareness
My Acupuncture experience with Barry and Acupuncture Works is that it does! For me it is a process that I liken to raising the sagging roof of an old barn or leveling the floor of an old house. It is a gradual process and it may take a while to see results. Barry is a master craftsman shoring up the timbers and putting in great supports wherever needed.
However, unlike a roof raising, no-one was doing it TO me. I embarked on a great do-it-myself adventure with Barry as a teacher and guide and friend.
Acupuncture seems to me to be like a catalyst. "Be all you can be" proclaims the advertisement -- I am becoming and I didn't have to join the army. Thank you Barry.

Asthma
I first sought help from Barry out of concern for my increasing dependency on an inhaler to relieve my asthma symptoms. That was in mid-2006. Through regular Acupuncture treatments and taking up some of the gently suggested life-style tweaks, my use of an inhaler is now almost nonexistent. I knew at the time this would not be a quick fix. I appreciate Barry’s encouragement to do the work. What I didn’t know was that along the way I would attain such an overall sense of well-being. Not to mention I no longer have that nagging ache in my hip.

Chronic Pain
I have had the good fortune to be under the care of the Acupuncture Works for almost three years now. Approximately 4 months before I was to have an anterior cervical disectomy with fusion, a group of friends recommended that I make an appointment with Barry Fudim. After years of unrelenting chronic pain, visiting an acupuncturist sounded like a wise choice. It was a very good choice.
Today the medical establishment has little tolerance for people who don't get well. The medical world that I remembered fondly as a child bore no resemblance to the brutish bureaucracy that I felt trapped in. Every test, every procedure, every trial was more frustrating, and more dehumanizing than the previous one.
Through all of this, I looked forward to the care and weekly support that I got from Barry. Everything our traditional system no longer provided, I could receive openly at the Acupuncture Works. I was not a number, but human, and it felt right to be there. It was about my health and my needs as a person.
People often asked why I went, and "did it really take my pain away"? I explained that I went because I found something that no other provider could give me. I found peace. I found health and more, I could go on, but I think you get the point. Did it take all my pain away? No. Did enough of my pain go away for me to always want to go back, Yes, yes and yes!
I once read an article in the Northstar that basically said the Chinese call energy "Chi", and that acupuncturists are "Chi" farmers. They find blockages in your body and they clear these blockages allowing your "Chi" to flow. When you have free flowing energy, you have health. I have had chronic pain and Fibromyalgia for over 5 years, so it is critical for me to clear any blockages and to keep my energy flowing as freely as possible. This is what the Acupuncture Works does for me, they keep me moving. They keep me flowing
For me, it is like choosing whether you would like to meditate next to Niagra Falls on a summer’s day, or to drink from a stagnant pool of water on a hot buggy night.

Vertigo/Balance
I was introduced to Acupuncture during a stay in California where I was treated by the renown Dr. Mao of Los Angeles, a seventh generation acupuncturist. My ailments were noticeably improved after only three treatments. Fortunately upon my return to Vermont, I was able to learn of a local acupuncturist couple in Barnet. I hoped my treatments would be as astonishing as the ones I received in California. Barry Fudim’s treatments began in 2006 for a vertigo/balance problem I was having. I quickly felt assured that Barry understood my ailment and prepared a course of treatment that has brought me back to the healed state I remain in today. His professional service remains constant and his soothing nature makes me feel at ease.

Stress
I have been receiving Acupuncture treatment from Amy Wheeler for
approximately seven months. I first sought treatment for a wide array of
stress related symptoms, both physical and psychological. Acupuncture has
helped me be more in tune with my body which in turn helps me to process
and/or shed stress. Aside from the direct benefits of the Acupuncture
treatment, I have also learned healthy and healing techniques that I can use
in my everyday life.
